Summer Hikes and Bike Rides

Summer is still alive and waiting for your explorations!!!!!

Check out all the fun you can have:

  • Sunday, August 12th – Wimpy bike ride along Sammamish River/Burke Gilman Trail to 192 Brewing Company for music.  Flat, easy ride for about 11 miles.  Bike Leader:  Nancy Reid.  Wimpy bike ride sign up
  • Monday, August 13th – Neil’s 2nd Monday Bike Rides starting from Gasworks Park.  Easy ride for less than 20 miles with food & drink after the ride.  Ride leader:  Neil Willey.  Neil's August 18th ride sign up
  • Saturday August 18th – Alki Beach Walk & Coffee.  Short walk for about 45 minutes with views of the Sound and Olympics followed by coffee at Starbucks. New member walk leader:  Fulay Little.  Alki Beach sign up
  • Saturday, August 18th – South Lake Washington Bike Ride followed by a BBQ and water sports on Lake Washington.  26 mile bike ride from Gary Mansell’s house (some hills!) with lazing around by the lake, BBQing and frolicking in the water. Bike & BBQ sign up
  • Sunday, August 19th – Snohomish to Granite Falls Bike Ride.  38 mile bike ride through the rolling hills and farm lands of Snohomish County.  Bike leader: Ken Janicke.  Granite Falls bike ride sign up
  • Tuesday, August 21st – Afternoon hike/walk in the Redmond Watershed.  Easy hike through the nature preserve with chirping birds, croaking frogs and the smell of fir trees for about 3 miles.  Walk leader:  Nancy Reid.  Watershed sign up
  • Saturday, August 25th – Long’s Pass hike.  Views of Mt Stuart and the Stuart Range while hiking up to Long’s Pass.  6 miles round trip with 2100 feet elevation gain.  Hike leader:Ron Long (and, no, it wasn’t named after Ron).  Long's Pass sign up
  • Saturday, September 1st – Bike ride through the Carnation Valley.  Moderately easy ride through the countryside for 25-30 miles.  Bike leader:  Julie Byington. Carnation bike ride sign up
  • Sunday, September 2nd – Deception Pass hike.  Views of Deception Pass while hiking along the coastline.  5 to 8 miles depending on the route with a maximum of 1150 feet elevation gain.  Hike leader: Ken Janicke.   Deception Pass sign up
  • Friday, September 7th–Sunday September 9th – Camp and hike near Mt St Helens.  Explore nature’s comeback on the east side of Mt St Helens, camping at Iron Creek Campground.  Reservations required to reserve the campsite.  Hikes varying from 4 to 11 miles with varying elevation gain.  Hike & Camp leader: Julie Byington.  Mt St Helens sign up
  • Monday, September 10th -Neil’s last 2nd Monday bike ride.  Cycling less than 20 miles through the Seattle area starting out from Gas Works Park. Bike Leader: Neil Willey.  Neil's last bike ride sign up
  • Saturday, September 15th – Mt Baker Chain Lakes Loop Hike.  Absolutely magnificent views of Mt Baker, Mt Shuksan with lakes galore.  6 miles moderate hike, 1300 feet elevation gain.  Hike leader:  Ken Janicke. Chain Lakes sign up
  • Saturday, September 22nd – Scorpion Mountain Hike.  Alpine meadows, views of numerous peaks, fall colors, huckleberries, blueberries and no bugs!  Approximately 8.5 miles with 2500 feet elevation gain.  Hike leader:  Mike Romano.  Scorpion Mountain sign up
  • Need a larch fall color hike in October!!!!!!!!!!!!
