We will carpool to the trailhead at Hyak which is just east of the Snoqualmie Tunnel and ride down to Easton where we will have lunch before beginning out return trip.
The trail is hardpacked gravel and is suitable for both mountain and cross bikes but not road bikes.
This is an old railroad grade providing for a rather fast trip down and a relatively easy climb back to
Hyak as the gade never exceeds 2.5 percent.
I feel this is one of the most scenic parts of the 200+ mile John Wayne trail as it affords spectaculer views of the surrounding mountains and valleys as well a long traverse along the southern shore of Lake Ketchelis.
