See Flyer for all Pre and Post Backpack Logistics. The Quinault Rainforest is home to the Enchanted Valley, which is considered one of the best beginning to intermediate backpacking experiences in the Northwest. Tucked away in the southwestern corner of Olympic National Park, this rainforest provides amazing views, well-marked trails and world class experiences, all on relatively flat trails by Olympic standards. Wildlife abounds with herds of elk and deer, coyotes, eagles, salmon, and regular black bear sightings. Our S’no Joke backpack several years ago yielded a view of a mama black bear and her cub at a comfortable distance. We also saw a threesome of elk just 50 feet off the trail.
The Enchanted Valley is exactly what the name implies. Disney shot his Olympic Elk short subject in the park. The valley is a wide open section of the Quinault River with a length of 1.5 miles, and sits at the bottom of picturesque mountains in Olympic National Park. Towering thousands of feet above the valley, waterfalls cascade down rocky, scantily-forested cliffs. The nickname “The Valley of 10,000 Waterfalls” has been appropriately earned.
