Snow Lake is a jewel of a lake in a gorgeous setting. The trail climbs gradually across open slopes, occasionally rocky but always with spectacular views and then some switchbacks before descending to Snow Lake at 3 miles. We plan to hike along the lake and then take the High Lakes Trail an additional 2 miles and 800 feet gain, enjoying more spectacular scenery along the way before reaching most appropriately named Gem Lake.
Some may elect to hike only as far as Snow Lake and enjoy time just relaxing or hiking along the shore and swimming while awaiting the return of those who have elected to venture further to Gem Lake.
After returning to Issaquah we plan to stop at the Rogue Brewhouse (35 Sunset Way) for some well- deserved food and refreshments.
